First open integration platform of all smart bins for collection and recycling operations

In a new development that promises to enhance the landscape of waste and recycling management, Superfy, the leader in sustainable smart resource management solutions, today announces the  first open integration platform of all smart bins for collection and recycling operations at the Smart City Expo, the world’s biggest and most influential event for cities and urban innovation.

The adoption of smart waste and recycling management solutions is on an upward trajectory worldwide. The smart waste collection technology market is forecasted to grow to USD 3.83 billion by 2029, at a CAGR of 10.30%[1]. This growth is driven by the increasing need for efficient waste management in urban areas, the emphasis on sustainability, and the desire to reduce operational costs.

As the demand for these solutions has increased, so too has the number of solution providers entering the market offering a range of technologies to improve waste management. Most of these are single point solutions, from QR codes, NFC (near field communications) and Bluetooth devices to fill-level sensors, solar powered compactors, telematics and workflow management software. The list is extensive and at times confusing for city managers and operations staff. And often, as the different technology solutions are acquired, little or no scope is provided for the interoperability or consolidation of other software platforms or technologies.

Superfy’s software platform addresses this critical need by offering a single, all-encompassing solution for managing smart waste and recycling systems. This innovative platform streamlines the entire process, making it easier than ever for city managers to manage all their bins and technologies in the one platform, enhancing operational performance and ensuring a clean and sustainable future for their communities.

Commenting on the announcement, CEO Ronan Quinlan said, “this marks a natural evolution of smart waste and recycling management sector. We are proud to introduce the first open platform for seamless integration for PEL Solar Compactors and other leading smart bin and fill level sensor providers worldwide, providing a more open and flexible solution for city, waste and recycling managers”.

Coinciding with the launch, Superfy are offering a free trial, to allow city managers to integrate their existing infrastructure, regular bins, smart bins and smart assets onto the Superfy platform, to experience the benefits first hand.

Ronan added, “Some of our customers are frustrated by ‘vendor lock in’ and limited functionality of their smart bin and collections management software. Often the software is limited to handling that company’s products only and creates a burden for the end customer looking to adopt other technologies. At Superfy, we think it is great to be able to mix and match, and manage all your smart bin and regular bin collections, regardless of who the supplier is, on one screen and one app. And that’s what we’re launching today.”

The platform will be demonstrated at Smart City Expo World Congress in Barcelona, 7-9 November, at the PEL Waste Reduction Equipment Stand B175.
