RECYCLING - EUROPE
Mixed recycling results for EU countries
A European Commission report reveals that while nine member states are on track to meet reuse, recycling, and landfilling targets, eighteen others may fall short. The targets aim for 55% of municipal waste and 65% of packaging waste to be prepared for reuse or recycling by 2025, with a goal of reducing landfilling to below 10% by 2035. The report emphasizes the need for financial and technical support, as well as actions like cutting non-recyclable waste and improving waste management practices to achieve these targets.
