EU Waste Management Overview

It provides information on the amount of waste produced, recycling rates, and the environmental impact of waste management practices in the European Union.
In summary, 2.2. billion tonnes of waste is generated in the EU, with 27% municipal waste. 49.6% of all municipal waste in the EU is recycled or composted. In 2021, EU exports of waste to non-EU countries reached 33 million tonnes. This is an increase of 77% compared to 2004.
