EU recycling rate improvements slowing down

Experts warn that while EU countries have made significant progress in increasing their recycling rates, the pace of improvement is slowing down. In 2020, the average EU citizen generated 4.8 tonnes of waste, but only 40 percent of it was recycled. Recycling plays a crucial role in reducing the consumption of primary resources, and different countries have varying recycling rates influenced by factors such as economic activities, waste management measures, and national environmental awareness.
