Textile Recycling - NORTH AMERICA
Canada’s proposal to reduce textile waste
According to the University of Waterloo and Seneca College, Canadians throw away close to 500 million kilograms of fabric items on a yearly basis including clothing, shoes and toys. The study proposed a new grading system, from A to F, for garments to determine if they could be resold, recycled or disposed of.
“By looking at the clothing this way, more than half of the textiles could be reused while another quarter could be recycled.”
